As your children are settling into the school year, we want to introduce you to the Memorial Spaulding PTO leadership and opportunities to support our school. We are Megan Tager, Monica Yancey and Sharon Shiner – your PTO co-presidents. Megan is a mom to a kindergartner, 3rd and 5th grader; this is her 2nd year as a PTO co-president. Monica is a mom to a 2nd & 5th grader and Sharon is mom to a 1st & 4th grader. We are proud to be part of this exciting school and look forward to working with you through the many activities and events the PTO organizes throughout the year.
The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is a vital group of parents, guardians and caregivers who collaborate with faculty and staff to support our children’s learning. The PTO builds bridges between home and school while promoting a shared sense of community. Our extensive fund-raising activities support curriculum, enrichment programs and community events at Memorial Spaulding. We fill a critical need in our school by providing funding for programs such as In-School Creative Arts, initiatives like “Steps to Respect” used by our 3rd grade team, teacher development opportunities, classroom supplies and much more that is not available through the Newton Public Schools. Most importantly, PTO meetings and events offer parents a chance to participate, learn and share vital information while enjoying the sheer fun of community spirit.
Help us make a difference and make a contribution to the PTO. In order to raise the funds needed to support these programs we are asking families to contribute to the Memorial-Spaulding PTO. The cost of the PTO’s budget for 2011-12 is $75/family. While we encourage everyone to contribute, your contribution is voluntary and every dollar does make a difference. Contributions can be made by check payable to “Memorial Spaulding PTO” or through the website at: www.memorialspauldingpto.org; the DONATE button is on the TOP LEFT HAND of the screen and all major credit cards are accepted.
The Memorial–Spaulding PTO offers many possibilities for participation in the classroom, at home and in the school at large. Please contact your PTO presidents for more information. Your energy, creativity and commitment make the PTO a positive presence in our school. We look forward to your support.
