Principal’s Weekly Update

LED lighting is being installed now!  Our new lights will be dimmable and will save on the school’s energy bill.  Our 5th graders will be experimenting with/studying different modes of lighting (including LED) and compare energy usage.  They will present their findings to the school sometime this winter.

Did you know that our school has 455 solar panels located on the roof which provides approximately 40% of our annual energy needs.  Check out our solar panel website by clicking HERE

Please remember to dress your children appropriately for winter weather.  We go outside for recess every day, except on rainy days and extremely cold days (below 20 degrees with wind chill factored in). Children are expected to wear coats and long pants when we go outside in cold temperatures.  Children should also bring hats, gloves/mittens, boots and snow pants if they wish to play in the snow.  Please label all clothing items with your child’s name.

Have you checked the Lost and Found lately?  We have quite a number of items on the shelves.  Please take a look (or ask your child to look) if you are missing something.  The Lost and Found is in the main corridor.

Please do not park in the Blue Zone.  A simple rule to remember is “stop, drop and roll.” Stop your car, drop off your children (sidewalk side only) and roll on!

Save the Date:  Memorial-Spaulding staff and parents are working on a special parent presentation about Inclusion.  January 12th @ 7pm.

Just a reminder that December 23rd is a full day of school.
