Principal’s Update

A few important items for this week:

Please join us on Tuesday evening of this week (Feb 23) @ 7pm for our annual meeting with Dr. Fleishman and members of the Newton School Committee. This meeting will be an opportunity for members of the Memorial-Spaulding community to speak directly with district leadership to learn about upcoming plans for our schools. Join the Newton Public Schools in a discussion led by Dr. Edward Fergus, author of “Solving Disproportionality and Achieving Equity: A Leader’s Guide to Using Data to Change Hearts and Minds” to discuss these challenges and how to overcome barriers in implementing change in the practice of equity. Joined by a panel of NPS leaders, we will share some of the opportunities and obstacles that face us as we strive to be a more equitable and just district for all. Wednesday, Feb. 24th @ 7pm. The Resilience Project at Newton-Wellesley Hospital will hold a forum entitled “Parenting and Educating Children with Special Needs During Covid”. Friday, Feb. 26th @ 11:30am. More information HERE

Kindergarten Information Night to happen on Wednesday, March 10th @ 7pm. If you know of a family with incoming K students – please pass this information along to them. Details HERE

If you travel out of state your children (regardless of age) must either be tested or quarantine before returning to school. Your cooperation on this matter is much appreciated and serves to keep us all safe.
