Dear 5th Grade Parents:
Before we know it, our 5th graders will be graduating and we need to begin our feverish preparations for this exciting milestone!
All 5th Grade parents are invited to attend a “Stepping Up Ceremony” organizational meeting at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1st, 2011 in the library. The purpose of that meeting will be to discuss the formation of the committees listed below:
Ceremony Reception Committee
This committee will be responsible for coordinating table set-up, refreshments, decorations and seeking 4th grade parent volunteers to help with set-up/clean-up after morning ceremony.
Slide Show Committee
This committee will be responsible for producing a slide show/video montage during the morning ceremony. This would entail collecting any pictures taken of our children (at the school) from K-5.
Year book Committee
This committee will serve as the liason to the Newton North Graphics Dept. who print our yearbook. We also need someone to coordinate/collect photos and photo opps with teachers throughout the school year.
This committee will be responsible for hosting several fundraisers throughout the year so that we are able to subsidize costs incurred such as yearbook, t-shirts, reception, party and class gift.
5th Grade Party Committee
This committee will be responsible for coordinating with the Reception Chair/Co-Chair for decorating the evening class party as well as coordinating the set-up, DJ, refreshments and parent volunteer chaperones.
This committee is responsible for coordinating the design and production of the class t-shirt.
Staff Gift Committee
This committee would be responsible for purchasing the staff gifts (you will be reimbursed) that will be presented during the morning ceremony.
Additionally, there will need to be a Graduation Liason who will be the single point of contact between the committee heads and the staff/administration at Memorial Spaulding.
At this meeting, parents will have an opportunity to sign up to be members and/or chairs of the committees of their choice. Our goal is to have each committee chaired by two individuals.
Please note that the committee heads will need to be able to attend a meeting on the first Thursday of every month at 8:00 a.m. throughout the winter and early spring and, more frequently, as we get closer to graduation. Committee heads can meet with their committee members at a time which is agreeable to the members of that committee.
If, for some reason, you are unable to attend this first meeting, please reply with your request and we will sign you up for a committee as per your request.
