Principal’s Weekly Update

Principal’s Forum for on School Vision:  Please join me on Friday of this week (10/14) at 8:30 AM in the auditorium for a conversation about our school’s vision.  I would like to engage parents in the development of our collective vision and hopes and dreams for our school community.   Additional opportunities to participate: Friday, October 28th @ 8:30-9:30 AM / Thursday, November 17th @ 6:30-7:30 PM.

Playground Community Build:  Demolition of the old play structure is nearly complete and we are excitedly awaiting the arrival of our new playground!  We need your help! Please consider donating a couple hours of your time to help us build the new play structure.  No previous experience needed.  Sign up HERE

High School Start Time:  Recently, you received an email from the superintendent detailing Newton’s work on high school start times. This fall, the district is asking for your thoughts on the benefits and costs of moving the high school start time later, as well as feedback on several potential scenarios. Some scenarios change only the high school hours, while others impact our school and others in the district.

Research, reports, and scenarios can be found on the district website: http://www.newton.k12.ma.us/laterstarttime.  I encourage you to attend the community forum at Angier on October 19th at 7:00 p.m. You can also provide feedback via laterstart@newton.k12.ma.us.

New Sidewalk:  The DPW is installing a new sidewalk from the bus lane area to the parking lot.  This will allow for easier access to the playground and Kindergarten classrooms from the front of the school.

Reminders:  All student arriving late (after 8:30 AM, must sign in at the Main Office) and children being dismissed early must be retrieved in the Main Office.  These measures are for security reasons.  Thank you for your understanding.
